Sigma Alpha Epsilon

Wisconsin Lambda Chi

Welcome to the website for Sigma Alpha Epsilon colony Wisconsin Lambda Chi.  We are a social fraternity on the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse campus with an emphasis on service to community, academic and athletic achievement, and with the general intent of living up to our creed, the "True Gentleman."

We are very supportive of all community, and community service based projects.  Our national charity is the Children's Miracle Network.  We are also a substance-free organization, a fact we are very proud of.  Our two biggest goals for this organization are strengthening the Greek Community here on the UW-LaCrosse campus and giving back to the community that has given us so much.

In accordance, we would like to thank all the other members of the Greek Community of UW LaCrosse (Delta Sigma Phi, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Tau Gamma, Alpha Xi Delta, and Alpha Phi) for welcoming us into their elite group.  Thanks also goes out to all those who've advised us along the way, Kaye Schendel from Student Orgs, Peter Brown (IFC President), Joe Carey (Former IFC President), our good friend and contact from Madison Austin Evans nor coordinator of annual givings at the fraternity service center in evansten, and our boys from National Headquarters down in Evanston, IL, Jon Grossmann, Matt Hanahan, and Mike Corelli.  Thanks to everyone, we're forever thankful to you for your patience, understanding, and gratious attitudes, without you, none of this would have been possible.

The True Gentleman

"The true gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds for good will and an acute sense of propriety, whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others rather than his own; who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe."

--John Walter Wayland (Virginia,1899)
